Meredith Lukow, PMP, is a communications specialist at the American Institutes for Research (AIR) and communications lead for the Region 9 Comprehensive Center (R9CC). Her expertise includes spearheading multifaceted communications strategies and providing strong project management. As communications lead, Lukow guides R9CC’s overall outreach strategy and coordinates a team that produces resources, blog articles, printed collateral, social media updates, email newsletters, and more. She also currently serves as project manager and website lead for Regional Educational Laboratory (REL) Midwest.
Previously, Lukow completed a 2-year stint as communications lead for the Midwest Comprehensive Center (MWCC). Drawing from strong experience managing successful websites, she initiated changes to maximize search engine optimization, improve headlines for better engagement, and employ knowledge translation principles to clearly explain project work to diverse audiences. Meanwhile, MWCC’s website pageviews more than doubled, from less than 4,000 in the 2016–17 program year to nearly 11,000 in 2018–19.
Lukow also excels in project management and stakeholder engagement. For REL Midwest, she developed and maintains systems used by approximately 60 AIR staff to track more than 190 projects across seven Midwestern states. In addition, Lukow is the primary liaison to the REL Midwest governing board, a group of 29 regional stakeholders representing state education agencies, school districts, and professional organizations.
Before coming to AIR, Lukow honed her communications and project management expertise as the managing editor at the Center for American Progress (CAP), where she oversaw the timely publication of dozens of research products each week and edited policy reports written by CAP’s top experts. Lukow is a certified Project Management Professional and graduated from American University with dual bachelor’s degrees in international studies and political science.
