Illinois Career and Technical Education

Project Lead: Christy Montgomery-Jones

The Region 9 Comprehensive Center (R9CC) is working to support the Illinois Perkins V state plan, which aims to empower and support all students to achieve their life and career goals through an aligned, equitable, and high-quality career pathway system. The Illinois State Board of Education (ISBE) Department of Career and Technical Education (CTE) and Innovation has set internal goals, including determining the percentage of all students, CTE students, and CTE concentrators who earn an industry-recognized credential and supporting implementation of work-based learning.

To support these goals, R9CC is collaborating with ISBE’s Department of CTE and Innovation to identify priorities for gathering data on industry-recognized credentials and supporting work-based learning. R9CC also is helping to codevelop a logic model with potential inputs, outputs, and milestones to facilitate implementation of the model for the work aligned to the Perkins V state plan.
